[Fish Tacos. A California Favorite! Panko-crusted Haddock stuffed between two soft-grilled tortillas, layered with Santa Fe Dressing, Pico De Gallo, Carrots, and Melted Cheddar-Jack Cheese. Served with Rice’N’Beans and Guacamole.]
This is an actual item at a restaurant in Syracuse, NY. I myself, a Southern California native, ordered this to see if it was actually as bone-chillingly horrific as it sounds.
What I received was a “tortilla” [actually a fucking PITA] the size of a dinner plate folded in half with two entire panko-fried haddock filets about 7-8 inches long each, smothered in cooked, shredded carrots and cheddar cheese. Also, their “Santa Fe Dressing” is TARTAR SAUCE.
I wish I’d taken a photo.

OH, AND BE CAREFUL!!!!!!!
(and yes i did submit the top one to nastyshitwhitepeopleeat).
[tw: the most racist, genocidal rant you’ll hear from a 16-year-old “taking a class” today] Aboriginal Rights & Freedoms.
I feel like another rant is in order…not like anyone read my last one, but here we go.
Aboriginal people in Canada.
They get so many privileges. It seems just about unfair.
I, myself, am Cree/Metis (1/8th specifically haha), so I have grown up around my mom and grandparents who are very proud to have a Native background. I am very proud, myself, to be related to the indigenous people before us.
But, at the same time, I feel we are treated very unfairly.
Not Natives, but people of non-Native background.
Aboriginals get specific rights that (I hate to say this…) ‘white’ people do not have.
Yes, Natives have fought for these rights and they have fought to be recognized FOR YEARS and to be seen as people. But, if they want to be treated as fairly as ‘white’ people, they should not accept the extra help that they do.
In BC (I don’t know about other provinces), once a status Native turns 18, they get a certain amount of money. It’s about $1000 or so.
Which is money they do not deserve. In my city there are drunk Natives all over the streets, which is horrible.
Natives are payed that money for no reason. Some (depending what group they’re from) are given money to go to college or university. That is definitely not fair either. Like, yes, they are given that money to go attempt to make themselves into something in society, but many of them don’t think that way.
Many of them, especially undereducated Natives (from reserves and whatnot) spend the money on things that they don’t need.
A few of my friends (ex-friends) are status Natives. They were planning on buying nice, big, Ford trucks with their money that they would receive on their birthdays.
That is not responsible, and that is most definitely not what they should be spending their ‘grants’ on.
I am Native, but my family lost their status when my Great Grandma married a ‘white’ man, and I am very disappointed about that. Receiving that money would have been great and I would have loved to put that forward into going into university.
I am definitely jealous of Aboriginals who get that privilege.
That money that they get comes out of everybody else’s pockets (do Natives pay taxes…?). Everyone who is non-Status is paying Native people for NOTHING.
That is just disappointing.
Yes, I feel bad that they have been treated so horribly in the past. That definitely could have been avoided.
I don’t want to say ‘Oh, well, they should have gotten over that by now. It’s been years since then’, because, no. The harm and abuse that went on in the Residential Schools was horrifying. Children who grew up and were taught in those facilities were taught to act in a certain way. That way was soon passed on to generation and generation.
The abuse is still going on nowadays.
Instead of giving all Natives this random amount of money from OUR taxes, they should work on helping and fixing these problems.
We should use this money to help get jobs for these people and to help abolish racism.
The government should realize this. They should open their eyes and see what goes on in society.
The problem won’t just go away because they’re given money.
The ‘Indian Act’ overrides everything that the ‘Charter of Rights & Freedoms’ states about Canadians. Why do status-Natives get special treatment?
They’re human, just like everybody else. We, of all people, see that now.
There needs to be a change.
The ‘Indian Act’ needs to be thrown away, really.
Aboriginal people should be offended. They should see that the government obviously sees them as ‘more special’ than anyone else in Canada.
That’s stupid. That should not be a thing.
We need to all be equal, because we are. We need to be treated that way as well.
Originally, when the Europeans came to what is now known as Canada, their main goal was to assimilate the Natives.
They did a major shitty job at that. How could they have been assimilated if we ostrisiced them from them from our culture and society?
That is what we can fix now. They don’t have to be assimilated as such, but we can help them because full-fledged Canadians.
They just need our help and support for that.
I don’t know.
Native Studies class makes you think.
Bolded, because this racist rant is the same exact conclusion that 90% of the white people in a college level Native American History class I took came to.
This is why when white people say shit like, “I know because I took a class”, I put them into the garbage.
I mean, just look at these shining examples of logic:
1. “We should use this money to help ‘them’ get jobs”; “Natives spend money on things they don’t need”, “A Ford truck [that costs less than $1000!!!] is the wrong way to spend that money”
because of course an extremely cheap car isn’t necessary to get a job…?
2. “Natives need our help and support to assimilate and ‘because’ full-fledged Canadians”
3. “Natives have been horrifically abused by Canadian institutions for centuries”; “The abuse is still happening”; “They should work on fixing these problems”
because everyone knows if you’re at the receiving end of abuse, you just need to fix your problems. You wouldn’t be experiencing abuse if you just fixed your problems. riiiiight.
4. “This is money they don’t deserve”; “I am jealous I don’t receive this money”; “Natives get money for college and to ‘make something of themselves’”; I am sadly disappointed…I would put this money toward University”
5. “the problem won’t go away by giving them money”; “we can help them become fully-fledged Canadian citizens”; “Settlers’ main goal was to assimilate Natives”; “If they want to be treated as ‘fairly’ as white people, they should not accept the help that they do”.
6. “I don’t know”
no. no you don’t. wowwwww.
This isn’t even scratching the surface of everything wrong with this, not the least of which is the entire thing is just regurgitated virulent racism, with the regurgitator trying to use genocide as a justification for being a fucking racist. Just…wow.
And yet it’s the Natives who are “undereducated”.
I woke up this morning and found out that this book exists.
I don’t even have words to describe how appallingly chagrined I am right now.
All i can say is…when Twilight was in its first throes of moviedom, I found out my then 12 year old little sister was “into it”. I have never read those books. Rather, i decided to ask my little sister what it was about/give a review. I figured it was better to get the gist from someone whose target audience it was, rather than reading it myself through a filter of a lifetime of experience and literary criticism.
I’m sure you can imagine.
And now, this fucking bull ass bull fucking shit.
ENDANGERED WHITE FAIRY VAGINA: THE BOOK.
My little sis is now 14. And now, I have to call my other sister who is 26, to make sure our youngest sister NEVER gets ahold of this book. Because she is black. And I refuse…REFUSE!!!! To allow for my sweet bbgirl reading a fucking garbage ass book in which people who look like her are referred to as “coals”, and pollute her mind with entertaining the notion that she is somehow oppressing her little white friends who run around pretending to shoot her and calling her “illegal alien”, and about a million other horrible situations I can’t even go into right now or I’m gonna become more upset than I can take right now.
